Both Ribbons of Hope and A Thread of Faith are finalists in the Cascade Christian Writers Contest, Contemporary Fiction category. Winners will be announced June 24, 2025.

Ribbons of Hope won an award! In May, I attended the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. Ribbons of Hope won the first place Foundation Award in the contemporary romance category. Here I am with my writing buddies Kelly Goshorn (far left) and Laura Conaway (far right), both of whom also won awards, and our wonderful mentor, Dani Pettrey.

Ribbons of Hope
With a painful past and devastating medical diagnosis, love is the last thing on Elizabeth Jones’ mind. Can a handsome surgeon with a kind heart help her believe in love again?

When Elizabeth’s husband was killed in a car crash, leaving her with a newborn and two-year-old, last year, she didn’t think her circumstances could get any worse. Until the day she got the phone call. Cancer. While a chance encounter with a fellow cancer patient brings friendship, meeting the woman’s son brings her face-to-face with her greatest fear — trusting someone with her heart.

Jake Rogers’ life was falling into place. Years of hard work finally paid off, and his surgical practice was up and running. Meeting Elizabeth was not part of his plan. The beautiful woman threatens to topple the wall he’s constructed around his heart.

Can Jake and Elizabeth fight their way through cancer to a place of trust — in God and one another?
A Thread of Faith
Faith Delaney refuses to trust men. She’s been burned before and has no desire to repeat the mistakes of her past. Her nursing job and continuing education seems safer, offering her stability and satisfaction. She didn’t anticipate the chance run-in with handsome pediatrician, James Rogers. He may be handsome and funny, but she can’t allow herself to fall for him.

Pediatrician James Rogers is finally ready to settle down. He’s bought a house, and while it’s old and in need of repairs, he doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Good thing, because the lady that has walked into his life is going to be his biggest challenge yet.

James may come across as fun-loving and carefree, but he’s been heartbroken. He recognizes the hurt in Faith and determines to be patient, a tactic that works until a horrible accident pushes them together. Faith’s guilt over the accident tethers her to James’ side until he’s back on his feet. He’s managed to burrow farther into her heart than she ever intended to allow.

Can Faith learn to let down her guard, even when a threat from her past roars back into her life?
